Minutemen respond to false accusations; alerts public of dangers of not upholding our immigration laws Monday, 05.11.2009, 06:06pm (GMT)
(Exclusive to Christian Mirror)By James L. Lambert
The founder of the San Diego Minutemen has responded to the unfair betrayal his organization has received from members of the local media. Jeff Schwilk, who is a retired member of the United States Marine Corps was a recent guest on Night Lights TV. Night Lights is the only locally produced conservative talk TV show in San Diego. In the combined 12 minute interview Schwilk explained the problems that Americans encounter when the federal, state and local governments do not actively uphold our immigration laws.
Schwilk also has concerns that Washington may try to pass an amnesty bill (AKA Comprehensive Immigration Reform) in the near future. His concerns are warranted. Earlier this Spring, The Christian Mirror reported that Nancy Pelosi publicly denounced immigration enforcement by ICE as “un-American.” An immigration reform bill that Pelosi supports would, if enacted, be very costly to taxpayers. According to the government’s own data,“low-skill immigrates receive, on average, three dollars in government benefits for each dollar of taxes paid. This imbalance generates a net cost of $89 billion per year on US taxpayers. Over a lifetime, the typical low-skill immigrant household cost taxpayers $1.2 million.” (Heritage).
As a long time Southern California observer of the illegal immigration issue, I can accurately say that members of the local minutemen have been unfairly portrayed by biased reporting from both the San Diego Union and North County Times. In this 2 part interview with Mr. Schwilk, you can formulate your own opinion.
