During the summer of 2008, I was in Long Beach, CA. attending a Christian evangelistic event. Sitting next to me was a vocal female supporter of Barack Obama. Because of my proximity to her, I tried to tell her the reasons why I opposed his candidacy. I cited his liberal voting record in the US Senate and the Illinois legislature including his extreme pro-abortion stand.Nevertheless, the young lady was enamored with the 47 year old Democratic candidate and ‘felt’ that God wanted her to vote for him. She believed we needed a change. Well, we did get a change! Is this the type of change Christians such as this young girl, really wanted?
In his first 100 days as President, here are some of the ‘changes’ that his supporters, (including millions of Christians), can bank on:
·President Obama signed an executive order that effectively provides federal (tax payer) funding of abortions worldwide.
·The Obama’s administration’s US State Department, has officially eliminated the phrase ‘war on terror’ from their lexicon. They don’t want to offend anyone including our enemies.
·During a recent overseas diplomatic trip, Obama chose not to verbally defend our country when long time Marxist Daniel Ortega launched into a 45 minute tirade against the U.S..
·The $787 billion dollar Obama ‘stimulus’ package was passed without the majority of legislators even reading the bill. The administration is virtually ignoring the huge, escalating debt problems (1.2 trillion dollars for the next 12 mos.) we now face.
·Obama’s Department of Homeland Security labeled pro-life advocates and second amendment defenders as ‘right wing extremists’ in a 9 page report. The 9 page report was disseminated to law enforcement representatives all over the country just prior to the April 15th ‘tea parties’ demonstrations that took place in over 800 cities throughout America.
·President Obama nominated David Ogden to the # 2 position at the Dept. of Justice. Ogden, the lawyer, has a long history as an advocate for the porn industry. How does this appointment help the American family?
·President Obama’s Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner admitted in his Senate confirmation hearings that he owed back taxes in excess of $100M. Ironically, as the incoming Treasury Secretary, Mr. Geithner will now be in charge of the Internal Revenue Service.
·Obama’s Administration has deepened the federal government’s involvement in independent companies (like AIG, Bank of America, GM, Chrysler to name a few). For the first time in my lifetime, an American President has ordered the CEO (General Motor’s Rick Wagoner) of a private corporation to be removed. Instead of allowing bankruptcy, the federal government has permitted auto unions (a long time Democratic party allie..) to now have a strong representation on GM’s board.
·Obama had said he wants to create a $634 billion fund to pay for health care reforms. The end result will allow the federal government to be the predominant player in 17% (health care industry) of our economy.
·Since he moved into the White House, Barack Obama has expressed interest in a cap and trade system to control carbon emissions and raise revenues (i.e. tax increases). Rep. John Boehner (Republican leader in the House) says “cap and trade is code for increasing taxes, killing American jobs and raising energy costs.” (CNN)
·As President, Obama has told his supporters that he will fight for passage of an amnesty bill that will give a passage to citizenship to between 12-20 million illegal immigrants. This despite polling data that tell us that over 70% of Americans disapprove of this. (This couldn’t come at a worst time with government social assistance programs [food stamps, social security, medicare, welfare, unemployment aid, federal housing programs, etc.] being pushed to the limit.
·Democrat leadership, in concert with the White House, is working on passing HR 1913, Hate Crimes legislation. This is a bill that seriously jeopardizes religious freedom of speech in America. A pastors sermon (i.e. sexual orientation) could be considered ‘hate speech’ under the House version of the bill (and prosecutable under federal law).
Those in the faith
community should be worried about where our country is now headed. If you voted
for Barack Obama last November, you may realize by now that this might not be
the ‘change’ you were hoping for. The future ofour beloved country is now at stake.
