With
far-left Democratic Congressional members dominating the Black Congressional
Caucus, wouldn’t it be nice if a number of Black conservative congressional candidates
win election this November? It could very well happen!
There
are some excellent black conservative Congressional candidates that are running
for Congress this fall. They include: Star Parker (CA.– Dist.37)
www.StarParkerforCongress.com ,
Allen West (FL.– Dist.22) www.AllenWestforCongress.com ,
Michael Faulkner (NY.– Dist. ), www.FaulknerforCongress.com
, Ryan Frazier (CO.- Dist. 7) www.FrazierforColorado.com
and Charles Lollar (MD.- Dist. 5) www.LollarforCongress.com
to name a few. Timothy Johnson, Chairman and Founder of the Frederick Douglass
Foundation said yesterday, that’s its “an incredible time in our nation’s
history – to have 13 strong black Republican candidates running for Congress …
The only time since Reconstruction when more than 1 black Republican was
serving in Congress was in 1995 to 1997.” [Other African American Republican candidates
include Stephen Broden (TX. – Dist. 30), Isaac Hayes (IL.- Dist. 2), Bill
Randall (NC. - Dist. 13), Marvin Scott (IN.- Dist. 7), Tim Scott (SC.- Dist.
1), Chuck Smith (VA. Dist.- 3), Bill Marcy (MS.- Dist. 2) and Charlotte
Bergmann (TN. – Dist. 9).
I
believe it is important for all of us
who considers ourselves as conservatives or espouse themselves in believing in conservative
principles, to financially support these refreshing new candidates. It’s clear
that if any of these candidates are elected in November, they would cause quite
a stir on Capital Hill. Democrats have long felt uncomfortable in dealing with conservatives
from the African American community. Nevertheless, there are still many areas around
the country where black churches and conservatives have had a strong influence in
their communities.
For
a long time, liberals and Democrat Party operatives have considered it
slanderous to support conservatives from inside the black community. I have long
been offended by liberals who have belittled these courageous Americans. While
their numbers may be small, these conservatives refuse to be the standard
bearers of many of the lefts standard causes (like abortion, affirmative action
and big government).
I
have personally witnessed a ‘dress down’ by fellow Democrats of a Bible
believing City Councilman who regularly stood against the tide of indecency and
corruption in his community. I had the deepest admiration for this local politician
who consistently held to his deeply held, moral convictions.
One
only has to go back to the Clarence Thomas in the early 1990s when his Supreme Court
justice hearings were being held to understand what I am talking about. The
personal ‘lynching’ that Thomas endured that month as evidenced by prejudicial and
inflammatory questions and jabs by Democrat Senator’s (Joe Biden, Patrick Leahy
to name a few) was deplorable. Liberals on that Senate judicial committee must
have been saying to themselves, ‘how can an African American male really have a
conservative world view?’
If
these Republicans win this November, it would be refreshing for Americans to be
able to see these fresh, courageous and principled conservatives from inside
the African American community serving their constituents from a whole new
prospective. Any one of these candidates who win this fall will share the same
trait: they will no longer be ‘enslaved’ by the whims and the dictates of the
Democrat National Committee.
