NORRISTOWN–The 2011 Pope John Paul II High baseball roster has three players on it who were an integral part of the basketball team’s run to a Pioneer Athletic Conference tournament championship this winter.

UPPER PROVIDENCE - Prior to the start of Friday night’s season finale, Perkiomen Valley was given quite a nice gift. Before hitting the ice, they should have walked over across the hall and given thanks to Methacton. Thanks to Methacton’s 6-3 loss, Perk Valley automatically qualified for the ICSHL Ches-Mont playoffs as the fourth and final seed of the American Conference.

OXFORD -- When the District One basketball playoffs roll around, it makes for some odd matchups, primarily because teams from one area rarely see or play teams from another.

UPPER PROVIDENCE—The schedule might say this is still the regular season, but teams playing meaningful games right now know they are already involved in playoff games.

GRATERFORD—Nothing went right on the offensive end of the basketball court for the Pope John Paul II boys early in Saturday afternoon's Pioneer Athletic Conference contest at Perkiomen Valley. But while they finished the first quarter with just four points on the board, the good news for the Golden Panthers was that they allowed the Vikings to score only a manageable 11 points during that same time.

BUCKTOWN—Owen J. Roberts took over sole possession of first place in the Pioneer Athletic Conference late Saturday evening with a very convincing 37-20 decision over Spring-Ford.

PHOENIXVILLE–Perkiomen Valley’s girls basketball team saw a comfortable lead whittled to just four points by Phoenixville in the third quarter, but then the Vikings pulled away to win, 62-46, in Pioneer Athletic Conference action Thursday night.

POTTSTOWN–Methacton came up with three clutch plays down the stretch Thursday night, and those key plays turned out to be the difference in a 57-51 Pioneer Athletic Conference boys basketball win over Pottstown at Strom Gymnasium.
