For close to 30 years I have been observing politics in this country and I’ve never seen anything like it. The media is fully in the tank for Obama. I thought it was bad enough when people would vote for Sen. Obama for President solely because he was black. I’ve always been told by almost everyone that this type of motive was racist in itself. Didn’t Martin Luther King Jr., once tell us that we should value someone because of ‘the content of his character’ instead of their race? But the media bias in this year’s Presidential contest is way over the top. Let me explain.
During the last year, Senator Obama has been featured in the cover of Time Magazine over 10 times, most often with glowing reviews. Numerous other national magazines have followed Time’s lead. Likewise US magazine did a glowing front cover story on Obama’s family. (Several weeks later the same magazine did a front cover story on Gov. Palin noting the lies and distortions of her family and political life).
When Obama visited Germany and the middle east this summer, all 3 major television networks sent their nightly news team and media ‘stars’ to broad-cast Obama’s trip direct from overseas. I can’t ever remember this ever hap-pening to any Presidential candidate in my lifetime!
“The 3 networks (ABC, CBS and NBC) treated Obama to nearly seven times more good coverage than bad (462 positive (34% of the total) compared with only 70 (5%) that were critical.” (Media Research Center). “The networks downplayed or ignored Obama gaffes.” The Presidential candidates relation-ship with Tony Rezko, and Bill Ayers has been significantly downplayed. “CBS and MBC also initially downplayed controversial statements from Obama’s longtime pastor Jeremiah Wright, but heavily praised Obama’s March 18 speech on race relations.” (MRC)
Stories from the Associated Press, the San Francisco Cronicle, the New York Times, the Baltimore Sun, the Boston Globe, the Chicago Tribune, the Oregonican, Newsweek, Time, the Seattle Times, USA Today, the Los Angeles Times, the San Diego Union Tribune, the Philadelphia Inquirer, have all demonstrated a sort of ‘protective cover’ when it comes to this candidate.
It doesn’t take much to recognize that the vast majority of the cable news network programs also show their support for the Democratic Presidential candidate. Cable news outlets like CNN, MSNBC and CNBC are particularly annoying. They have so-called ‘reporters’ and opinion makers that will raise little (if not any) criticism of Senator Obama.
Jack Cafferty, Larry King, Roland Martin, Wolf Blitzer and Anderson Cooper will probably tell you that they aren’t biased politically but their choice of program guests, program topics, reporting mannerisms and line of questioning clearly tells their viewers that they are rooting for Obama to become the next President.
Much of the same can be said for NBC and their affiliates MSNBC and CNBC. It’s too bad Tim Russert is no longer with NBC. He was one of the few ‘balanced’ commentators on that network. Tom Brokaw has replaced Russert on ‘Meet the Press.’ It seems like he more closely reflects the overall news reporting ideology of NBC. (Fox News commentator Bill O’Reilly recently referred to NBC’s reporting bias as ‘disgraceful’).
The networks favoritism of Obama is well known. Chris Matthews (a former Democratic political operative), Keith Olbermann (a former LA sports reporter) and David Gregory (a former White House correspondent), who all have their own national TV programs on NBC, are clearly hostile to conservative ideals. Because of their consistent, liberal bias much of their reporting cannot be trusted by most Americans. Perhaps this explains why this network is doing so miserably in its monthly (television) ratings?
Perhaps someday these network and print newspapers will get it. As their advertising revenue continues to fall and their viewer ship and readers continues to decrease perhaps someday they will understand that most Americans are tired of this liberal drivel. Don’t expect any fair and balanced reporting here. It seems like these folks more closely reflect the constitu-encies they like living in New York city, Chicago, San Francisco and Hollywood, instead of the rest of us across America!
